Upbeat Typo Fixer · Last updated: October 10, 2026
Upbeat Typo Fixer is a free program from Upbeat Money that fixes typos as you type on your Windows PC. To do that it has to see what you type, so this page explains exactly what it does with it, in plain words.
The short version
- It reads your typing only to fix typos, on your PC.
- It never sends anything anywhere. It has no internet code of its own, no account and no tracking.
- It doesn't keep a record of what you type. It keeps only the typos it has learned, words you've told it to leave alone, your settings, and sentences you choose to review.
- It stays out of password and sign-in boxes completely.
What it reads while you type
While it's switched on, Upbeat Typo Fixer watches the keys you press (Windows calls this a keyboard hook) and keeps a short copy of the last few hundred characters in the computer's memory, so it can spot a typo and fix it. That copy is thrown away as soon as you press Enter, click somewhere else or switch to another window, and when the program closes. It is never written to a file and never sent anywhere.
To check that its copy matches what's really in the box, and to recognise password boxes, it also asks Windows (through the standard accessibility features) about the box you're typing in. What it reads that way is compared in memory and then forgotten.
It switches itself off in password and sign-in boxes, in full-screen programs and games, in File Explorer, and in any program you put on its off list. Nothing you type in those places is looked at or kept.
What it saves on your PC
Everything it keeps is in one folder on your computer (Help tab → Open my data folder takes you there):
- Downloaded from upbeatmoney.com:
%APPDATA%\Upbeat Typo Fixer - Microsoft Store edition:
Documents\Upbeat Typo Fixer
The folder holds:
- Learned typos (
learned.json): pairs like teh → the, the words you've told it are real (names, slang), counts of which kinds of slips you make most, and how many typos it has fixed. - Review list (
review.json): when it isn't sure about a word, it keeps that word and the sentence it was in so you can see what you meant on the Review tab. Each one is deleted when you pick a word or press Dismiss, and Clear all deletes them all. It keeps at most the latest 300. - Settings (
settings.json): your choices, including the names of programs on its off list. - Activity log (
errors.log, andcrash.logif it ever crashes): counts such as how many keys were pressed and fixes made, and the names of programs it switched on or off in (for example notepad.exe). It never contains what you typed.
None of this leaves your PC unless you copy it somewhere yourself.
When it goes online
Never by itself. The links to Upbeat Money open your web browser (or, in the Microsoft Store edition, the Microsoft Store app); from then on it's an ordinary visit, like going there yourself. The user guide and this policy are built into the program and work without the internet.
What we collect
Nothing. Upbeat Money never receives your typing, your typos, your settings or anything else from Upbeat Typo Fixer. There are no analytics, no crash reports sent to us and no advertising IDs. If you email us, we only see what you choose to send, and use it only to answer you.
Removing it
- Downloaded from upbeatmoney.com: untick Start with Windows on the Home tab if you turned it on, quit it from the tray icon (by the clock), then delete
Upbeat Typo Fixer.exeand the%APPDATA%\Upbeat Typo Fixerfolder. - Microsoft Store edition: right-click it in the Start menu and choose Uninstall, then delete the
Documents\Upbeat Typo Fixerfolder.
Nothing else is left behind.
Children
Upbeat Typo Fixer is a general-purpose typing tool. It doesn't knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age, and it sends nothing anywhere.
